Dean Lowe (Croatia Zagreb)
JD: What position do you hope to achieve this season? DL: I will be hoping to finish in the top three for sure, if this does not happen then the players will be changes, simple as that, they must start performing.
JD: Does being in the cup prove a hindrance or helpful towards your league form? DL: Not too bothered, this squad is big enough and good enough to cope, that’s why they are here, if that changes then they won’t be.
JD: Which club do you see as your closest rival? DL: All of them, we have not beat some of the lower placed teams so we should not worry about just the top ones.
JD: No deals for a while now. Is the team complete? DL: We have tried to settle things a bit, we have built without a doubt the best squad in LA5, now it must deliver.
JD: How do you attract big players since you are not a traditional big European club? DL: At the moment money, well that’s all they seem to be worried about. They must start to earn it now.
JD: Name one player you would love to have at Zagreb. DL: Piexe, without question the best defender about, well we have the best players everywhere else.
JD: Who will win the Premiership, who will be relegated? DL: Don’t care, sorry about not being to co-operative but I’m a bit p....d with this lot I’m working with, you will start to see the reserves soon if this continues.
Chris Keeley (Benfica; div 1 south)
JD: Your defence is looking impressive this season. Is this a new training regime? CK: Thanks for noticing. Yes one goal conceded in eight matches is a testament to the belief and work ethic of the team. We have three experienced Portuguese international defenders within the team. As you may know when I took over Benfica they had just been relegated to Div South One. I built my entire team around Helder and sold the rest. This despite having won the European Cup. I just saw it as the end of an impressive era. We really struggled last season with a loss of form. The rebuilding process is almost over. We now have a large squad with an average age of 25. I have to say Neno has plenty of cover in front of him. All my defenders and midfielders have excellent tackling attributes.
JD: Is div 1 south better than north? How would you fare in the northern div? CK: Hard to say. How do you judge this? I think there is plenty of depth and pedigree in each division. I'm sure Atalanta, AC Milan and Benfica could still thrive in div one North. It might be a bit colder though!
JD: Porto are leading the premiership, is this a matter of pride or envy? CK: It is definitely one of pride. Portugal are a major footballing force and that Porto are heading the Premiership should come as nosurprise. It only fuels my ambition to attain Premiership status.
JD: Are you keeping the European Cup polished and shiny? Can yourepeat the feat? CK: In fact we won the cup two seasons ago. It was an amazing experience but sadly tainted by the relegation. I remember the win over Arsenal very well. Baggio pulled the strings and Baia made a string of important saves. I heard their manager has still not got over the defeat. This season we have started well with victory over IFK Gothenburg. Hopefully we can keep going but the league is our priority this year.
JD: Is it possible to stay unbeaten whole season at this level? Only 3 sides left unbeaten. CK: I actually wanted to go the whole season without letting a goal in! Seriously though, Atalanta away in my next fixture will be another strong contest. I've yet to play Milan as well. Eletr's mind games, like my brother's at Inter, will prove superfluous.
JD: Name one player you would love to have at Benfica. CK: One galatico I would dearly love is Peixe. Anyone know if his desire to move back to is for real? JD: You would have to kidnapp him to pry him away from Arsenal! Rosco is as stingy as they come!!
Colin Kitson (Dortmund and Boro)
JD: Which do you give prioroty to, the cup or the league? CK: Both my teams Borrusia Dortmund and Middlesbrough have small squads with insufficient quality cover, therefore I fielded reserve teams for both clubs in the last round and as expected, both teams were dumped out of the competition, however this means the players will not pick up any unnecessary injuries/bookings/suspensions.
JD: Is div 1 north better than south? How would you fare in the southern div? CK: That is a tough question, B. Dortmund have beaten better sides on paper this season, so I don’t think it's always what team your playing against, it's how the manager uses those players.
JD: Is there a massive gap between the premiership and Div 1? CK:Again that’s a tough question, having seen the squads of 2 of the teams that came down last season, there is nothing to fear, however, as you look at the mid - top teams in the premiership you can see the gulf in class and depth.
JD: Who would you like to face in the Cup? CK:Being a Chelsea supporter beating Arsenal or Man Utd in the final would do just fine.
JD: What do you think of the recent changes in the game? CK: As to the pools, there is always a mad dash once a year when they are updated, the big clubs with the big money tend to win out in any bidding war. I'd like to see new talent added throughout the year, meaning you have to continually scout, but it gives everyone an equal chance, it would also be nice to see players coming through a youth squad system and being added to the lower division sides automatically. As for the new resilience / consistency factors I'm not convinced about them yet.
JD: Which players would you like to see at your clubs? CK: At Borrusia Dortmund I'd like to have Thomas Hassler (Still with Juve, I think), at M'Boro it would be nice to have someone like Ronaldo.
Sala Uddin (Napoli; Premiership)
JD: You are the top Italian side right now, do you fear Lazio? SU: First of all I would like everyone to get this straight, my team does not fear anyone in this League, and yes my team is the top Italian team and if it was not for Porto I would be sitting on top of the premiership right now with the title, BEST TEAM in the league.
JD: The defence is holding out well, can you keep up the form? SU: When I first came here, Napoli had a defence that even my grandmother can penetrate. I had a headache in trying to get the back line to adjust to my zonal marking system, but with time and some goals conceded, my team is at its best when in defensive mode. I don't think my team will concede more than 2 goals in any one match ever, unless of course I have too many injuries or suspensions.
JD: Deisler is back from the mental institution, he is bang on form, has he completely recovered? SU: I hope he never recovers because this boy can see a through ball that no one else can see. His mental state is only stable when he is on the pitch. The other day he went to sit on top of Matteo Ferrari, I said “Nah mate, he is our goal keeper; your Ferrari is parked outside.” Deisler is a flawed genius.
JD: Liverpool fans are accusing you of spending more time with Napoli than Liverpool... SU: Listen mate I don't know where you got that from, because the fans love me, I know that and they know that. I think some Liverpool fans are upset that Napoli are in a better position than Liverpool, I call these people nipple suckers.
JD: Spit is furious at constantly being dropped, why is he still at the club? SU: Spit is in an unfortunate position. Why, you ask? Well the simple answer is that I don't like him. He has one of those faces that you just want elbow. The reason I have him at the club is that he has very good heading. If he had some plastic surgery then maybe he would play more often.
JD: Who is the one player you would love to have at Napoli? SU: I think my team is perfect, they may not have the best stats but they have good team spirit and character. Though obviously if I had a few more choices I would exchange all the players for better upgrades, except for Deisler, Poschner, Vicente and Quique.
JD: Who will win the Premiership? Who will be relegated? SU: Like I stated from the start of the season, I think Napoli will be top with Porto and Liverpool 2nd & 3rd respectively. The relegation is easy Arsenal bottom (for sure) with Torino, Man U, Juventus, Ajax & Gothenberg the other contenders.
Jermain Jenas (Liverpool)
JD:A struggling start to the season by Liverpool standards. JJ: I would not call it a bad start to the season we've played some blindin' footy without much reward, and with the players we have we wouldn’t worry about bad results for long.
JD: There are reports of a rift between you and Redknapp, he doesn't feel you could replace him. JJ: Redknapp is an arrogant t***er, he thinks no one can replace him. His mental attitude is all wrong. I don't know how long he has left at the club but I hope it's not very long.
JD: You were offered a loan option at Vitesse, but you opted to stay at Liverpool. JJ: That option was open to me only if Liverpool didn’t give me regular football, but the gaffer reassured me that I had a big part to play at Liverpool. No disrespect to lower division teams but I was born to play in the premiership.
JD:Is there a shift in power as the big 2 of Man U and Arsenal are fading and Liverpool and Aston Villa are improving? JJ:I don't think there is any doubt that there is a shift in power, you just have to look at the league position to see that Man U and Arsenal are shit. I don't think the players are to blame for this but the managers. The gaffer here & Sam Wilson at Villa are up and coming managers who have the potential to win the league and cup.
JD:Do you prefer playing on the left or centre? JJ:With the gaffer using Owen & Poorters down the left I don't get much chance to play there, at the moment I am still learning to play against the top players in the centre of the pitch, but eventually I would like to play a few games down the left to improve my other attributes like speed & skill.
JD: Which is the one game you are really looking forward to? JJ: . The game I am looking forward to has to be Croatia Zagreb. They have the 3 of the best midfielders in the game Morris, Wome and Topchiev. I can't wait to show everyone that I am going to be the greatest midfielder when I take them on and make them look silly.
JD: You were born and bred in Newcastle, why didn't you play for them? SU:Newcastle is an average team with very low potential to get to the Premiership, that's why my new team mate Saviola left them. I was a trainee there and I never felt any affection for the club. Here at Liverpool I love it.
